What is America’s national flower?

In 1986 Congress voted to make the rose America’s national flower.

Do flowers really have a “language?”

Yes. The language of flowers is called floriography. Each flower means something different, and it isn’t always something nice. Although most flowers represent nice messages of love or adoration, buttercups represent childish behavior, yellow carnations represent disdain or rejection, and an orange lily represents hatred. The first flower dictionary was published in 1819 by Mme. Charlotte de la Tour, titled Language des Fleurs.

What is a blue rose?

A blue rose is another rose (usually white) dyed blue. Roses can’t produce the chemical delphinidin, which is what makes flowers blue. A blue rose means mystery
